...post knuckle-biting knee-bending "bring on the love" full moon...
It's Friday night. Crickets, bats, tree frogs and mosquitos are doing what they do at the end of summer in the Catskills of New York. God bless'em for their noises and the near misses of bat missles at my head. The young count has a girlfriend again this year (the bat that lives above the sliding glass door to my deck). I think they've started a family, with at least one in tow. This one follows no rules of flight; no patterns familiar to anything with wings I've seen beforeflappy and happy and darn close to smackin' it's tiny little bat head against the shingles of my house. He brings so much joy, and in the twilight, provides rich entertainment for the curious huskys . I treasure my wild and domesticated family.
"So why then," you might ask, "are you moving?" Well, it's time. Not very profound but in my world, actually it is. I'm selling my home in Woodstock NY, taking Sheila and the kids (an airstream rv and my animals) south on the Blue Ridge Parkway to live in Asheville NC. Much left to do and I'm in the middle of it all but I did manage to squeak out Vol. II in the series of Cds I'd hoped to finish. Sometime over the next week or two, it will be off to the manufacturer and soon too, I'll make MP3 edits for the website. There is also a collection of writing that will be finished this year, not sure if I'll be releasing it with music but for now, I've posted a few poems on the, well, the poems page.
It looks as though the move will be completestudio functional, towards the end of the year. I want to perform live again as well, so once I'm settled into my new capsule, there's much to do to get a live presentation of this music together and that, my friends, is what I'll be doing.

...what I did on my summer vacation...

I borrowed a digital camera.

The camera was taken away.

I became sullen and reclusive.
I don't go away very much. But, I AM going to England in August just like every other tourist in Europe. Man oh man, what's up with that. Hot, humid, and stinky buses, that's what's up. ...NAwwww, I'm going to Glastonbury and Cornwall. Only one six hour bus trip from London to Glastonbury and I'll have just gotten off a twelve hour flight from South Carolina where I'll have just driven an hour and a half to get to, to catch my flight. That's not so bad. And I want to see Abbey Road and Real World Studios please. That's my request to the universe. I'd even settle for just one of the two, preferably Real World.
And what of music you ask? There are a couple new reviews of Vol. II on this site, check out the reviews section of the home page if you're interested. I'll also be putting up some clips of 'works in progress' in a week or so. These will be raw examples of compositions I'm working on which I'll be adding vocals to this year. I may also throw in some vocal loops just for grins.
The songs in the works are part of what I'd like to bring to live performance early next year. I'm loosly meeting, talking with musicians here in the Asheville area to work with. I'd also bring along the laptop with Logic, some plug-ins and samples.
Oh would it be too much to hope for a visual artist who might help bring some of my own obvious visual talent, into the mix? Perhaps. We'll see.
There will be a MySpace
Music site soon, it will be maintained mostly by the PR Lady, Teresa Conboy. She says it's an easy way to make friends and you don't even have to leave the house. Oh, and one other bit to chew on. If you're in the Asheville North Carolina area, do look for the Gypsy Chyx. We are a 'world gypsy music' band for the most awesome and beautiful Diana Shahein, beledi dance diva. I play the guitar for the band and there are rumors I'll dance in the fall. Just rumors.
I love Asheville. And as always, I'm grateful for the blessings and challenges.
Peace.
